New Titles in the Webstore for July 11, 2019:
KRIEGSHOG "Paint It Black / White Out" 7" (La Vida Es Un Mus)
Tokyo powerhouse KRIEGSHÖG returns with a two track 7” of distorted hardcore punk perfection. Facing a line up change the band sound was altered slightly after the previous guitarist quit. The new line up may have taken the guitar fuzziness a notch down in favour of a crunchier guitar tone but amped up the songwriting to the next level with a overdose of riffs, attacking each note with the same ferocious venom they have us accustomed to. These two tracks display both sides of KRIEGSHÖG perfectly, a mid tempo bass driven 4 minute banger backed up by a classic destructive sonic jam with the gnarliest punk vocals out there. Quoting the band “Play Loud..."
PUBLIC ACID "152 Seconds of…" 7" Flexi (Artifact Audio)
Recorded in the same session as their “Live At Artifact Audio” tape and featuring art by Thomas Sara, singer Matt Martin, and Carley Kimzey this flexi is a testament to just how badass this band is!
KALEIDOSCOPE "After the Futures" LP (Toxic State Records)
After two 7”s, an LP and numerous tapes Brooklyn’s KALEIDOSCOPE are back with their sharpest release to date. Written and recorded by the band in the house they live and create together. After the Futures… follows a path laid by worldwide sonic outsiders. You can hear vibes from the early ESP catalogue (FUGS, GODZ, ZITRO), guitar tones close to Peruvian LOS SAICOS, the wildness of the entire Attack Punk catalogue and constant nods to the blunt free spirit of CRASS. The fifteen paranoid, anxious and gloomy tracks of the record offer a narrative, an open view of the state of the post-modern world we have to live in as opposed to a re-hash exercise of style about past times.
BAD BREEDING "Exiled" LP (Iron Lung Records)
The news cycle as it exists in 2019 – rapid, permanently mutating, consistently grotesque – equally blesses and curses Bad Breeding. A group with a keen eye for social injustice and establishment venality, expressed in hollered tones over a full-throttle, enervating soundclash of anarcho punk, hardcore and noiserock, their third album ‘Exiled’ was fuelled by the last 12 months in (primarily) British politics: a nation circling the drain while forever eyeing the plughole. Partly, anyway. Topics on this 12-song, 33-minute album also include some hardy perennials of left-wing hardcore punk: war, imperialism, the police, the press. Topics which, at a time where the political landscape could change tectonically between this being written and you reading it, maintain a grim relevance. It's far more than generic protest prose though. One must hear for oneself to know for sure. Housed in a classic CRASS style 12 panel foldout poster sleeve with essay inserts and download cards included. Art by Nicky Rat. Sound by Ben Greenberg. A record for the people.
MALCRÍA "El Reino De Lo Falso" LP (Iron Lung Records)
Pointed, chaotic and forceful hardcore from Mexico City. MALCRÍA underlines their odd brand of precise punk with dark urgency and pained screams without a drop of reference or a borrowed idea. Very fresh, very real. The pure scrap of this trio is infectious and exciting. And for what it's worth, "Nadie Es Especial" is gonna be the song of the summer for sure. Something about that opening bass riff and the overall foreboding vibe of that track that keeps me coming back for more more more. 500 copies of 150gr black vinyl with an elaborately etched B-side housed in a painstakingly collaged 24pt reverse board jacket with lyric insert and download card included.
CYBERPLASM "The Psychic Hologram" LP (Iron Lung Records)
The mutilated guitar buzz, hissing vocal fury, Cyberdyne Systems drum processors and brooding atmospheric tekno are a powerful commixture brought to light through the channel of industrial noise punk so we can all start to free the body from the mind. 'The Psychic Hologram' is a mirror, a magnifying glass, a surgical kit and guidebook for self-liberation. Its freedom from flesh. Freedom from violence. Freedom from expectation. Freedom from "them". Us for us by us. 500 copies of 150gr vinyl housed in a 24pt reverse board jacket with 11x22 double sided poster and download card included. Art by Sainte-X. Sound by Capt. Tripps. Mastering by John Golden.
MINIMA "S/T" LP (Static Shock Records)
The first album by Minima, a new band comprising of members of No, Una Bestia Incontrolable, Snor and Barcelona is full of the kind of choice punk you'd expect of such a pedigree: jabbing riffs thrumming out, buzzed up with an insistent pull, clipped clattering beats pinning it down, vocals delivered with a potent snarl, accusatory and savage. From fizzing pogo of 'Adolescente', to 'Cicatriz's threatening hum, the whole album strikes a sharp balance between the big-riffing hardcore of someone like Glue or Nekra, and the Catalan / Spanish primitive-punk lineage that runs from Qloaqa Letal to dirt-raw rippers Pinen. (Joe Briggs)
S.A.G.A.L "Suckup Aholics Gain Acrobatic Licks" 7" (Hardcore Hard Records)
Ripping swedish hardcore (Mob 47,Totalitar etc) from Seoul, Korea!
PLEASURE LEFTISTS "The Gate" LP (Feel It Records)
Cleveland's PLEASURE LEFTISTS return with "The Gate", a new ten song album of cathartic, riveting post-punk excellence. The long-running group, comprised of veteran players in the Clevo scene, have turned in what is arguably their best recorded output - and the first since 2015's "The Woods of Heaven". For "The Gate", PL ventured out to Portland, OR in March 2019 to record on tape with Stan Wright (Arctic Flowers) - and the results are massive. Those familiar with previous PL material will immediately feel reacquainted with the group's masterful arrangements and cool, confident execution - a style that draws from the early British post-punk classics on labels like 4AD and Factory Records, but retains an organic, original sound that few contemporary acts harness. While "The Gate" undoubtedly benefits from the best studio sound of any PL release to date, the musicianship is what makes this album feel like an absolutely classic piece of work. The tones are perfect - almost as though Greg Sage dialed them in for a Wipers record. You'll immediately be taken by Haley Morris's vocal range and projection, which shines across the entire album and is absolute next level work. The sheer artistic quality of the songwriting is propelled along in perfect rhythm, as the guitar and bass play off of each other wonderfully, beginning the album with "In Dreams", which sets the tense and urgent nature of the tracks that follow. "The Return" dials the pace back slightly, allowing room for one of Morris's most memorable vocal patterns. As "Phenomenon" emerges from cold drone to begin the second half of the album, it quickly becomes apparent that PL have crafted a master work here. "Dancing in the Dark" could be a lost Homostupids track adapted to PL's sensibilities, followed along by the charging title track, and the gripping closer, "The Sign". Pleasure Leftists leave us with a phenomenal batch of tracks on "The Gate" - a gleaming, timeless piece of work.
CEMENT SHOES "Too" LP (Feel It Records)
Ahh yes, the Shoes, baby! Richmond, VA's CEMENT SHOES lay down eight new tracks on, "Too", their debut album. If you're new to Da Shoes, their debut 7" single on Feel It in 2018 left both reviewers and punk/hardcore millenials utterly confused and divided. The sage journalists at Razorcake even exclaimed, "This is the kind of genuine hardcore punk that could reach a pretty damn wide audience if the world were a different place." Well, it's 2019 now and the world hasn't changed one degree for the better, buddy! Thankfully, Cement Shoes have returned to drive the point home with their finest-and-fullest-sounding record yet. The Shoes are truly cooking with gas now, bringing the best elements of snappy 80s punk/HC and 70s hard rock to sonic fruition, with the necessary tongue-in-cheek sense of humor intact. "Too" presents itself as a sonic rendezvous where the '83 LA cast of punkers from "Suburbia", "Funhouse" era Stooges, Alice Cooper Band, Totalitär, and Cider are all invited. The whole room reeks of cheap beer and reefer, wah pedals lie on top of dirty shag carpet, and Joe Pesci is there to emcee the whole thing. Confused yet? So are we. But screw it, here's an album that sounds as timeless as the precious tape it was recorded on. A smoldering effigy to the way rock music used to simply exist and excite, and a shining example of where the unlimited data of the aughts can actually be stretched.
OBEDIENCE "MMXIX" LP (Fair Warning Records)

SLAUGHTER "Nocturnal Hell" 7" (Urban Grandier Records)
One of the very earliest manifestations of death metal on wax, Slaughter’s 1986 debut EP is a primordial blast of skull-crushing brutality-- equal parts Celtic Frost, Discharge, and Possessed, and every bit as heavy as that sounds. Urbain Grandier now presents the first-ever legitimate reissue of this ground-breaking Canadian slab in its original 7” form, in a high-quality, hand-numbered one-time pressing of 500 copies on white vinyl with insert, in pocket sleeve featuring art by OG Toronto thrash artist Harry Tong (Slaughter, Sacrifice).

DISCARD "Four Minutes Past Midnight" LP (Unrest Records)
Originally pressed by Ripping Records in 1993, "Four Minutes Past Midnight" will now see the light once again on Unrest Records with permission of Mats Svensson. Discard is one of the original D-Beat bands that played furious, bare bones and in-your-face Discharge infused hardcore punk. By the time "Four Minutes Past Midnight" came out in 1993, the D-Beat epidemic had begun as bands like Disclose, Dischange, Disfear and Disaster were proudly carrying the banner of Discharge-worship! Discard continues to play a crucial role in punk history as they influence the distorted sounds of D-Beat bands to this day. Re-mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege Studios (Portland, USA), this classic repress comes on a reverse board printed gatefold jacket.
Tokyo powerhouse KRIEGSHÖG returns with a two track 7” of distorted hardcore punk perfection. Facing a line up change the band sound was altered slightly after the previous guitarist quit.
